The Langland Wildway is a grassroots ecological restoration project in the Northside neighborhood. Led by the Langland Wildway Collective in partnership with Northside Greenspace, the initiative transforms neglected urban spaces by clearing invasive species and planting native, edible vegetation like pawpaws to support local biodiversity

Why Langland Wildway Matters

Langland Wildway is part of the Greenspace Guardians effort to support neighborhood-based environmental stewardship. This project helps show how a local site can be documented, mapped, and shared through a public story map so residents and partners can better understand the work happening there.

Before the Work

Before project work began, the site had areas that needed attention, care, and planning. Documenting the starting point helps show why the project matters and creates a record that can be compared with future progress.

Community Work in Action

The project included hands-on work to improve the site and support its long-term care. Workday photos and notes help tell the human side of the project: who participated, what was done, and how community effort shaped the space.

What Changed

After the project work, the site began to show visible signs of care and improvement. The story map can use this section to highlight what changed, what was learned, and what still needs future stewardship.

Reflection and Next Steps

Langland Wildway can serve as a proof-of-concept project for the story map. It shows how one project can combine location, photos, narrative, and flexible project information into a public-facing story that is easy to explore.
